“Anyone who thinks gardening begins in the spring and ends in the fall is missing the best part of the whole year, for gardening begins in January with the dream.”- Josephine Nuese.

I never thought this would be the case, but I’m almost not ready for the spring. There is a serious amount of work and beauty involved in the spring out here.
After some recent wake up calls to how desperately my life needs to find more healthy balance, I am slowly but surely learning how to have less to do, and that “rest and relaxation” is not the 8th Deadly Sin.
And yet, here comes the spring- glorious spring! The Daffodils can’t keep their beauty a secret anymore. The girl’s egg production is picking back up after a long stretch of resting. The raised beds are being planned, more David Austin roses will be arriving soon, and all around I am starting to remember what this place will be like in just a few short weeks.
It will be work, and it will be beautiful, and it will be intentional. What a gift to take on all the life and beauty that we have thus far. We are starting our 3rd (4th?) spring here, and I am nearly running out of ideas for places to plant beauty. What a wildly blessed life, and a gorgeous problem to have.
Those hot pink zinnias are coming, and I am eager for them. There are long days involved with tending to the animals and plants that call this place home, but they produce the most wonderful harvest of joy.

Lovely, positive observations. Thanks for sharing your photos. Obviously you will have daffodils long before we do, so I’ll look forward to seeing your blooms.
