Queen Anne

Every chicken matters to us.

We are backyard hobby farmers, our hens have names, we take time to learn their personalities, and we truly enjoy each of them.

Queen Anne was quite a prominent member of the flock. She was physically one of the larger birds, therefore a bit hard to ignore, but also consistently sweet. She was a true gentle giant, and one of the stronger personalities among the girls.

When it comes time for a hen to find her final resting place, it makes for a sullen day at our little homestead.

Her beauty will live on in our home in the form of various crafts made from the feathers she gifted us with, and she will not be soon forgotten.

Queen Anne was buried next to Mouse, another top favorite hen who died last year. They are under a tree in the woods of our property. It’s a nice spot, visible from the chicken coop, so not too far out of reach…but quiet, shady and peaceful. It’s a good resting place for a beloved hen.
