Y’all know I’m a sucker for variety. Of the (current) 25 chickens on our little homestead, I think we have 20 different breeds. I love not only learning the differences in personality among different breeds, but also love the beautiful variety of feathers they each have, and the eggs they lay! And of course, that’s just one of the three species of poultry that call the coop “home.”
Adding Olive Eggers to our flock was an excellent decision. We have at least one egg basket on the counter year round, and every day I truly enjoy seeing the beautiful treasures it holds.
Now, it’s holding olive eggs as well!
Sweet Pea was the first olive egger we brought home, and the day that she laid her first egg, we actually went out and brought home 2 more olive eggers after seeing what a lovely contributions they can make to the egg basket.

Next shade to add should be the super darks via our three Copper Marans- eager to see the variety they add to the basket as well!
