There’s a yard game we play that is our sure sign of summer. We get our drinks and sometimes have music on or dinner on the grill nearby. The chickens and ducks are usually exploring the yard to find their evening snacks, lightening bugs help set the evening summer mood, as does the fire in the firepit to take the evening chill off. It’s simply and lovely, and the height of weekend vibes for us.

It’s also the height of sentimental summer memories for me. This Swedish yard game holds a huge spot in my heart for wonderful time spent with family and friends.
My parents sent us a set for Children’s Day last year (yes, my brother and I guessed there surely must be a Children’s Day, since there is a Mother’s Day and Father’s Day!)
Given that I live 7 states away from the friends and family I grew up playing this with, it’s a treat for Kubb to have take a regular spot in our summertime relaxing activities. It’s also a fun way to still feel connected to those I love in California, who I fondly think of might also be playing their Kubb game as well, especially on the 4th of July!
From our little spot of heaven to yours, happy summer!
