Basket of Joy

“What you sow is what you grow, a person harvests only what he plants.”

I probably have already mentioned, but I love the concept of sowing and reaping. Even from a young age, I just got it.

The concept always been a comfort to me honestly, like the deep truth that everything living one day will die, it also is a great universal truth that you harvest what you plant.

We have a saying around here: Grit and Gratitude.

We live by those words.

The the grit side is obviously the planting- the long demanding days.

Grad school. Intentional diligence. Maxing out our annual Roths in January before allocating money toward anything else. Showing up. Staying late. Putting in the time and effort. Removing what hinders from the endgame. Consistency. Pulling the weeds, planting the seeds.

And the gratitude side, well, you know how lovely that part is. It’s the basket of joy, in all the forms that it takes.

But the harvest is always second, and in every inch of my heart, it’s peaceful, true, and right to be that way.

Truly, I’m thankful for both, and am convinced that the fruit gains it’s sweetness (and the flowers their beauty) solely by the work that you put in.
